water Nevada Division of Water Resources to hold water rights meeting in Yerington April 20CARSON CITY – The Nevada Division of Water Resources is holding a public meeting for water right holders who voluntarily choose to sell and/or lease surface water rights to the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation as part of the Walker River Basin Project.

The meeting will focus on supplemental groundwater rights issued by the Nevada Division of Water Resources to supplement Walker River surface water in times of drought.

The meeting is open to the public and will begin at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 20, 2010, at the Lyon County Library, 20 Nevin Way, in Yerington.

There will be a short presentation by the division on the nature of supplemental groundwater and the limitations that apply to such water rights. The presentation will be followed by a question and answer session.
