FtChurchillStatePark 300x199 Fort Churchill Civil War Volunteer encampment Oct. 9 SILVER SPRINGS, Nev. — On October 9, the Civil War Volunteers encampment will be set up on the lawn in front of Fort Churchill State Historic Park’s museum to present a living history of 1860s military life. This is an annual event complete with a cannon and period dress that has been very popular with history buffs.

WHAT: Civil War Volunteer Encampment

WHEN: The Civil War Volunteers encampment will be Saturday October 9 and will start around 10:00 a.m. and proceed through the early afternoon.

WHERE: The Civil War Volunteers encampment will be set up on the museum lawn at the main park complex. Follow Highway 95A south of Silver Springs eight miles to the large Fort Churchill State Historic Park sign. Turn right at the sign and proceed approximately one mile to the park entrance.

WHO: This event is open to the public. Events are sponsored and hosted by Fort Churchill State Historic Park.

COST: Residents will be charged a $5 per vehicle entrance fee to the park. Non-Nevada residents will be charged a $7 per vehicle entrance fee. Only cash or check can be accepted.
