ELKO, Nev. – The Nevada Division of Water Resources is inspecting and repairing the South Fork Dam. Visitors to South Fork are advised that water levels will be lower than normal through summer because of the maintenance efforts.
South Fork Reservoir’s water level is currently normal; however, it will be lowered an additional four to five feet by October in order to inspect and do necessary repairs to the intake and spillway.
“Public safety is the driving force behind this effort,” said Rob Martinez, Chief of Engineering and Dam Safety at the Division. “The Division will communicate any other changes to water levels should plans change.”
