These photos depict the community of Austin, Nevada. Austin is an historic mining town located in the center of the state along U.S. Highway 50. Highway 50 is commonly known as "The Loneliest Road in America."
The top left photo shows the oldest Catholic church in the state. The lower right photo is the Lander County Court house. The court house is located in the middle of Austin. The other photos represent views of Austin's main street.
The first photo is the historic christian church in Lamoille, Nevada. Lamiolle is located at the base of the Ruby Mountains (western slope) near Spring Creek and Elko. The photo of the farm house was take on the eastern slope of the Ruby Mountains on the way to Ely, Nevada.The photo on the far right is Wheeler Peak. Wheeler is located in the Great Basin National Park on the Nevada Utah border. The national park is located about 60 miles southeast of Ely, Nevada.
