DCNR welcomes Vinson Guthreau as new Director
The Nevada Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) is pleased to announce that Vinson Guthreau has been appointed Director by Governor Joe Lombardo.
Guthreau brings extensive experience in federal, state, and local government, along with a strong background in communications and public policy. Most recently, he served as Executive Director of the Nevada Association of Counties (NACO), where he partnered with county leaders statewide to advance initiatives that strengthen Nevada communities.
“Vinson’s experience, leadership, and deep understanding of Nevada make him a strong addition to the Department,” said Governor Joe Lombardo. “He brings a collaborative approach and a commitment to public service that will serve DCNR and the people of Nevada well.”
Guthreau’s career includes work at all levels of government, including district communications and rural outreach for former U.S. Congressman Jim Gibbons, as well as prior service within DCNR. His experience reflects a longstanding commitment to the responsible management of Nevada’s natural resources and the communities that depend on them.
Raised in Sparks, Nevada, Guthreau is a graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno, where he earned a degree in Political Science and Communications.
“It is an honor to serve as Director of DCNR and to return to an agency that plays such a vital role in protecting Nevada’s natural resources,” said Guthreau. “I look forward to working alongside the Department’s dedicated staff and our partners across the state to build on DCNR’s strong foundation of supporting a vibrant economy while ensuring the long-term stewardship of our land, water, and outdoor spaces.”
