Carlos Quiroz-Aguilera recognized as Employee Veteran of the Month
The Nevada Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is proud to announce that Carlos Quiroz-Aguilera, an environmental scientist with the Division of Environmental Protection (NDEP), has been selected as the Employee Veteran of the Month for October 2021. He was chosen for his outstanding accomplishments and contributions to the State of Nevada.
Quiroz-Aguilera is a United States Army veteran who served seven years in a human resources position. Along with being stationed in Oklahoma and Germany, he was also deployed to Iraq. Quiroz-Aguilera says the long hours were worth it to be able to help his fellow soldiers with leadership reviews, promotions, and awards.
Quiroz-Aguilera has worked as a certification officer for NDEP’s Laboratory Certification Program for the past three years. Notably, Quiroz-Aguilera recently hosted a virtual workshop which focused on emergency responses to an environmental incident. The workshop helped utility and commercial laboratories identify gaps in their emergency response plans and provided guidance to close those gaps.
“Carlos has been instrumental in helping NDEP meet its mission to protect public health and environment,” says NDEP Administrator Greg Lovato. “He has shown incredible courage as a soldier, and as a veteran he has truly exemplified what it means to be a State of Nevada employee with his service to our community.”
Quiroz-Aguilera says he has learned a lot during his time with NDEP and hopes to continue his service to the State.
The Employee Veteran of the Month Award initiative began in January 2021. Each month, an employee veteran is recognized by the Nevada Department of Administration Director and the Administrator of the Division of Human Resource Management.
