Last chance to purchase hassle-free, Nevada-friendly plants at the State’s nursery in Las Vegas

Nevada-native plants are easier/more affordable to maintain; and support a healthy, sustainable environment

Carson City, Nev – This fall, bring home the beauty of Nevada’s natural landscape! Operated by the Nevada Division of Forestry, the State Tree Nursery in Las Vegas has a great selection of Nevada-friendly plants available for purchase. All plants are grown and maintained at the nursery and are conditioned to survive Southern Nevada’s cold winters and hot, dry summers.

The nursery features a wide array of plants for conservation uses such as windbreaks, soil erosion control, water conservation, and wildlife habitat. Requiring minimal water and reducing utility costs, these low-maintenance Nevada blooms make for beautiful additions to your landscaping. Plus, fall is the perfect time for planting, as the warm soils encourage root growth before winter sets in and the ground freezes. Fall plantings with an already established root system are also more tolerant to extreme summer heat. Take advantage of this time to spruce up your soil before the nursery closes for the winter.

While walk-ins are not currently permitted amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the nursery is accepting pre-orders. Email LasVegasnursery@forestry.nv.gov or call 702-486-5411 for ordering instructions and to schedule an appointment for a curbside pickup. Plants are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Please be advised: Plants purchased at the Las Vegas Nursery must be used for conservation purposes pursuant to Nevada laws and regulations (NRS 528.105). Additionally, the land on which the plants are to be planted must consist of a parcel containing 1 acre or more, or 2 or more contiguous parcels owned by different owners if those parcels total 1 acre or more.

For a list of available species, please visit forestry.nv.gov. Most plants are available in one-gallon pots for $7.00 or five-gallon pots for $19.00.

The nursery is located in Tule Springs Park at 9600 Tule Springs Rd. Las Vegas, NV 89131.
