Nevada State Historic Preservation Office seeking public input for cultural preservation plan

Last chance, let your voice be heard!  Nevada State Historic Preservation Office now seeking public input for 2020-2028 cultural preservation strategic plan

You can be part of preserving Nevada’s past, today! Over the last year, the Nevada State Historic Preservation Office (NSHPO) has been reaching out to communities and gathering public comments related to all aspects of cultural resource preservation throughout Nevada. Now, based on significant public input received by NSHPO thus far, Nevada’s latest draft eight-year cultural preservation plan is available online at www.shpo.nv.gov/plan. NSHPO is accepting final public comments and suggested revisions, now through November 12, 2019. To submit a public comment, please contact (shpo-info@shpo.nv.gov).

NSHPO’s draft 2020-2028 plan focuses on the status of cultural preservation in Nevada, identifies key challenges and opportunities, and provides important cultural preservation goals for the next decade.  Designed to preserve and protect Nevada’s precious cultural and historic treasures, for the benefit of current and future generations of Nevadans and all who visit the Silver State, the eight-year preservation plan will be finalized in December 2019, and NSHPO looks forward to sharing status updates in the coming months and years.

Thank you for all who have provided comments in the public meetings and online surveys. Public engagement and participation is vital to ensuring that NSHPO’s cultural preservation plan holistically and accurately reflects the public's vision for the next decade. To learn more, please visit www.shpo.nv.gov/plan.
